Network EngineerEssential Accountabilities oProvide and manage the selection, installation and integration of LAN/WAN hardware, software, operational procedures, and operational training activities related to WAN, LAN and Client Server systems throughout the Main Line Health System.
oProvide research and proposal development including technical and cost justification preparation and technical analysis for network solutions as required.
oEvaluate purchase and maintenance agreements for PC and LAN/WAN hardware and software, and coordinate services under these agreements.
oProvide support in problem identification and resolution relating to PC's and LANs for all users throughout MLH.
oSupports the Director of Technology in the development and maintenance of local area networks installed at the Jefferson Health System and hospitals.
oProvide technical cabling assistance to hospitals and MLH facilities for the LAN installations.
oProvide support in diagnosis and repair of WAN facility problems throughout MLH.
oProvide on-call support to MLH Information Services, as required.
oAssist in the evaluation of new products and software.
Stays current with trends in the PC, LAN/WAN, and remote communications fields.
oInterface with Main Line Health System vendors on issues pertaining to PC and Network hardware and software.
oProvide or coordinate training as required to Main Line Health System users.
oProvide technical support for LAN, PC, and cabling issues to MLH Field Support staff, as required.
oAdditional duties as assigned.
Experience:
oMinimum of three (3) years' experience in network engineering.
oMinimum of three (3) years' experience with the installation, configuration, and support of Microsoft NT Server and Novell Netware networks.
oMinimum of two (2) years' experience in the design, implementation, and support of voice and data networks.
oA minimum of one (1) year experience with TCP/IP network design, implementation, and support in a Microsoft Windows NT Server domain environment.
oMinimum of two (2) years' experience in project management, and working knowledge of the following:
Microsoft BackOffice, Microsoft Windows 95, Microsoft Office Remote Communications, Backup Strategies, Desktop Image Development, Web Development, SNMP based management utilities.
oA minimum of two (2) years' experience in project management, and working knowledge of the following:
PBX & Centrex Switches, SNMP based management utilities, TCP/IP, DNS, & DHCP SONET T-1/DS-3 Routers, Switches, & Hubs Network Security solutions, and CSU/DSU's Octel Voice MessagingEducation:
Bachelor of Science in appropriate area, or certified equivalent experience.
Strong interpersonal and excellent communications skills (written and verbal) required.
